The co-founders, Mandana and Melika, coined the name Starflower Psychotherapy. The two practitioners were inspired by the serenity that one can find in nature, and they discovered a name that represented what they stood for. The starflower, as a resilient plant, can grow in multiple parts of the world in an array of climates. Its propensity to bloom across the world aligns with the co-founders' shared value of respecting diverse cultures and the unique strengths that each living being embodies.
Just as each individual can identify with multiple identities that intertwine, the starflower can appear in a range of colours. Some associate these colours with specific emotions that anyone can experience at various points in their lives.
Throughout various regions, a shared feature of the starflower is that it can grow to have five petals. Some believe that the five petals represent the five elements reflected in nature. These elements include air, earth, fire, space/spirit, and water.
At the same time, the five petals of the starflower can symbolize the five senses, namely hearing, sight, smell, taste, and touch. We take a holistic approach at Starflower Psychotherapy to acknowledge the multiple, co-existing factors that influence the individual whom you are.
