Get Support - Even On a Student or Low Income Budget

Therapy should be accessible to everyone. Starflower Psychotherapy offers sliding-scale sessions with co-founder Melika Montazery for students, recent grads, part-time workers, and anyone managing on a limited income. For people who can’t easily afford standard rates – especially students, recent grads, part-time workers, and anyone managing on a limited income.

Sliding scale simply means your session fee is adjusted to your situation, so cost isn’t the barrier to getting help.

What is sliding-scale therapy?

Instead of one fixed price, we work out a rate that fits your current circumstances. During your free consult, we’ll agree on something sustainable together – transparent, respectful, and designed to keep care accessible.

How much does affordable therapy typically cost in Canada?

Rates vary widely, but what matters is finding something that works for your budget. If our sliding-scale fee still feels out of reach, we can discuss flexible pacing and other options to make therapy affordable.

Starflower Psychotherapy is available to anyone in Ontario. If you live in Toronto and the GTA, Niagara, Ottawa – anywhere in Ontario – you can see us virtually. Book time with Melika here.

FAQs

What’s the difference between “low-cost” and “sliding scale”?

Low-cost is a specific reduced fee (sometimes via interns or limited community spots). Sliding scale is a range below full fee, set case-by-case so people who can’t pay standard rates can still access therapy.

Will I qualify as a student or low-income earner?

If paying standard rates would strain essentials (rent, food, tuition), you’re likely a fit. We’ll discuss openly during your consult and align on a fair rate.

Is online therapy effective?

Virtual psychotherapy is widely used across Ontario, and it removes travel/time costs, which helps keep your care consistent.

Do you offer free therapy?

We start with a free consult. If you’re seeking pro-bono or very low-cost options, we can recommend community resources as available.
